The posted date that it was manufactured is April 2021 Curing Salt #1 (Also known as Prague Powder or Insta-cure)) is a proportionate measure of about  93% salt and 6% curing agent that is regulated by the FDA and USDA and is necessary to help prevent food spoilage and poisoning. It is used in the preserving and curing of meats and most commonly used in ham and sausage making, smoking, canning, etc. The curing component inhibits the growth of bacteria, specifically clostridium botulism, and helps preserve the color of cured meat. Propylene Glycol is used to prevent caking and it is pink in color by means of a small amount of red food color added so that this product is not mistaken for regular salt.
